영국 런던에서 활동하는 필립 콜버트는 일명 ‘랍스터 작가’로 알려져 있다. 랍스터를 자신의 또 다른 자아이자 예술적 심볼로 내세워 회화, 조각, 미디어 아트 등을 창조해낸다. ‘랍스터’로 무장한 ‘메가 팝아트’라는 장르를 개척, 글로벌 미술시장에서 ‘차세대 앤디 워홀’로 평가받았다. 2019년까지 런던 사치 갤러리의 전속 작가였으며, 홍콩 화이트스톤 갤러리, 런던 테이트 모던, 서울 세종문화회관과 같은 핵심 미술관과 갤러리에서 개인전을 개최해왔다. 함께 협업한 브랜드는 삼성, 애플, 나이키, 몽블랑 등이 있다.
Philip Colbert, who works in London, is known as a ‘lobster painter’. He creates paintings, sculptures and media art, using lobsters as his alter ego and artistic symbol. He pioneered the genre of ‘Mega Pop Art’ - an art piece armed by ‘lobsters’ - and was appraised as the next Andy Warhol in the global art market. He was an exclusive artist at Saatchi Gallery, London until 2019 and has held individual exhibitions at main museums and galleries such as Whitestone Gallery, Hongkong, Tate Modern, London and Sejong Cultural Center, Seoul. The brands that he has collaborated with include Samsung, Apple, Nike and Montblanc.
