1977년 도쿄에서 태어난 타케루 아마노는 만화, 애니메이션 등 다양한 서브컬쳐를 접하며 유년기를 보냈습니다. 20세 초반에는 뉴욕에서 그림을 공부했으며, 유학시절 접했던 미국에서의 현대미술과 일본 대중문화를 혼합해 자신만의 스타일을 창조해내었습니다. 타케루는 노랑, 분홍 등 명쾌한 배경 위에 간략한 선으로 여인을 그리는 ‘Venus’ 시리즈로 널리 알려져 있습니다. ‘비너스’라는 고전주의적인 소재를 선택하는 반면, 대중문화적인 컬러와 간결한 선으로 현대적인 면모도 보여줍니다.
Takeru Amano was born in 1977, in Tokyo, Japan. The artist spent his childhood interacting with subculture such as cartoons and animations. During the early 20th century, the artist flew to New York to study art, where he found his artistic style combining Western Modern art and Japanese Popular culture. One of his well-known series, Venus, takes the ancient figure described with simple lines and uplifting colors as pink and yellow.
